Pillar 2

Language Accessibility

Spanish-language touchpoints, communications and visual cues — designed for Spanish-preferring users, not a label translation — maintained by AgencyCounter at no extra charge, with additional languages on the roadmap.

The problem today

English-only systems, bilingual staff as the workaround

Source systems are English-only, and bilingual staff become the workaround. Here is what that feels like.

As a resident

I prefer Spanish. The permitting and planning systems are in English, so I ask a bilingual staff member to help me — or I give up and call the counter.

As a staff member

I am bilingual, and I have become the workaround. Colleagues route Spanish-language questions to me because the source systems do not serve those residents directly.

As a leader

Our community includes Spanish-preferring residents, and we have adopted commitments to serve them. Our source systems are English-only, so those commitments are hard to keep.

What AgencyCounter does

Designed, not translated

Comparable products offer label translations only, if at all. AgencyCounter maintains the Spanish experience end to end — touchpoints, communications and visual cues — at no extra charge.

Spanish touchpoints

Search, parcel and permit views, map, filters and results are in Spanish — designed for Spanish-preferring users, not a label translation. A resident reads a record without help from bilingual staff.

Communications in Spanish

Notifications, alerts and confirmations are delivered in Spanish. The experience is maintained by AgencyCounter end to end, at no extra charge.

Visual cues

Status indicators, icons and guidance are localised so a Spanish-preferring resident can understand a record at a glance, without specialist vocabulary.

Anchored on your agency's own commitments

Language access is anchored on the agency's own adopted commitments — a Language Access Plan, an LEP policy, state statute, or community demographics. AgencyCounter helps the jurisdiction serve the community it has already committed to serve.

Additional languages are on the roadmap.

What we say, and what we don't

  • Language access is framed on the agency's own adopted commitments — a Language Access Plan, an LEP policy, state statute, or community demographics.
  • We do not say or imply language access is federally required or mandated by executive order.
  • The Spanish experience is maintained by AgencyCounter at no extra charge.
  • Additional languages are on the roadmap. No languages or dates are named.
What others don't

Compared by category, not by name

No competitor or vendor is named. The comparison is against categories of product.

Who it helps

Everyone your agency has committed to serve

Residents

Spanish-preferring residents search, read records and receive notifications in Spanish — without relying on bilingual staff to translate.

Professionals

Contractors, architects and realtors who prefer Spanish work from the same records in the same language, across every agency dataset.

Staff across departments

Bilingual staff stop being the workaround. Spanish-language questions are answered by the platform, freeing staff time for the work only they can do.

Leadership

Language Access coordinators, Offices of Equity and Communications meet the community commitments the agency has already adopted — with a maintained Spanish experience.

Questions agencies ask

Straight answers

Do we translate our own content?+

No. AgencyCounter maintains the Spanish experience — touchpoints, communications and visual cues — end to end, at no extra charge. Your staff do not translate labels or manage a second language version.

Our vendor already has a portal.+

Permitting-vendor portals serve applicants and cover permits only, and their language support is labels at best, if it exists at all. Ask your current vendor to complete our comparison table in writing.

Can we change things ourselves?+

No, and that is deliberate. AgencyCounter is turnkey. You tell us what you need through support; we make the change under our change management protocols and document it as agreed with the jurisdiction. No administrator role, no risk of accidental changes.

What if it doesn't work out?+

The price is fixed for five years, your source systems are untouched, and your data is returned or deleted on termination. There is no lock-in.
